Every quarter at the Home and Garden Television (HGTV) headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee, our job is to create educational interactive displays based on one design icon and one design trend.  This quarter we chose to showcase the iconic CH24 Wishbone Chair designed by Hans Wegner in 1945. Because of its versatility and pure danish modern design, instead of highlighting one design trend, we showcased the Wishbone Chair in a display with seven fresh and current design trends. This allows the versatility of this masterpiece to shine through. Below are images of the completed display. The trends we used to highlight the wishbone chair are Future Botanicals, NeuTraditional, Wild for Animal, Art Deco, Modern Mancave, Vintage Modern, and Bold Geometry. This was a collaborative project with Alexandra Kern and Catherine Blubaugh. ©2013, Scripps Networks, LLC.

For this display, the icon of design showcased is the Eames Chair designed by Ray and Charles Eames. Charles and Ray Eames headed the most creative design office in post WWII America. Each brought a rich array of talents to their life/ work partnership as well as a contagious enthusiasm for life and art. Together, they created some of the most iconic furniture of the 20th century, which, combined with their architecture, interiors, films, inventions, and exhibitions helped shape how people thought about objects and buildings. This was a collaborative project with Rachel Holmes Kelly. ©2012, Scripps Networks, LLC.
